Coverage questions

Who is this coverage for?

The Allstate postal schedule is for eligible postal employees.

Eligibility, group participation, state availability, exclusions and policy terms apply.

How much coverage can I select?

The table shows selected monthly benefit choices from $600 up to $6,000.

For first-time enrollment, your selected benefit can cover up to 60% of gross monthly income. Income limits and eligibility requirements apply.

Is a medical exam required?

No medical exam is required for the guaranteed-issue benefit choices. No benefits are paid for a disability starting within the first 12 months of coverage from a pre-existing condition, as defined in the policy. Post Office employees working 27 or more hours per week are eligible.

Applicable application information and eligibility requirements still apply.

What waiting and benefit periods are listed?

The selected schedule lists 14-day accident and 14-day sickness waiting periods and a 12-month benefit period.

Read the brochure and policy for how benefits apply, including disability definitions, waiting-period provisions, exclusions and benefit limits. The policy determines benefits payable.

Mental-illness exclusions apply; Alzheimer’s or similar senile dementia is covered only if first manifesting after coverage takes effect. Occupational sickness or injury is excluded by the base policy unless covered by an on-the-job disability rider. The selected coverage includes the on-the-job accident rider in its price; it pays 50% of the monthly benefit when workers’ compensation or another state disability benefit is received.

Is the monthly benefit what I pay?

The monthly benefit is the disability coverage amount you select. The biweekly premium is the price listed for that benefit choice.

Compare the benefit amount with its matching biweekly premium on the postal rate sheet.

What should I review about age and premiums?

Review the applicable premium schedule with your agent.

This describes the pricing. Eligibility ages and coverage termination rules are separate; review the brochure and policy for those requirements.

What do I need to request information?

For a basic disability inquiry, share your name and either an email address or phone number to Premier Protection. Your date of birth is not needed at that stage. Application requirements are separate.

Reviewing this FAQ or the rate sheet does not submit an application. Discuss the coverage and next steps with Premier Protection before choosing a benefit.

Eligibility, group participation, income limits, state availability, exclusions and policy terms apply. The rate sheet is an overview; the policy determines benefits payable.
