Is Premier Protection part of the government or FEGLI?
No. We are a family owned, privately owned and licensed insurance agency. We are not affiliated with OPM, FEGLI, the VA, USPS or any federal agency. FEGLI is the government's own group life insurance program; the plans we offer are separate private plans from insurance carriers.
Why are these plans only for federal employees?
They are group plans that insurance carriers make available to people because of their federal employment. Eligibility is confirmed with proof of federal employment, and we help you with every form your plan uses.
What is payroll allotment?
An allotment is a voluntary deduction you set up from your federal paycheck, so premiums are paid automatically each pay period. Using one is entirely your choice, you can stop it, and it does not make a plan a government plan.
Can I keep FEGLI and also have a private plan?
Yes. Having one does not stop you from having the other. Many families look at both together to find the mix that fits their budget and goals, and we're glad to walk you through that comparison.
What happens to my coverage if I leave federal service or retire?
There is no single continuation rule for every plan. Federal health and life insurance programs have their own requirements when you leave service or retire. OPM explains which continuation or conversion options may apply. For a separate private insurance policy, continuing coverage, premiums and payment arrangements depend on that policy and its eligibility rules. Ask us and the carrier for written confirmation for your specific coverage before changing or cancelling an existing policy. OPM life-event guidance (checked 2026-11-05).
Do I need a medical exam?
It depends on the plan, the amount of coverage and your age. Some plans ask health questions only; others require an exam. We'll always tell you up front, before you apply.
How do I know you're legitimate?
Ask any of our agents for their license number and check it with your state's department of insurance. Take your time and ask us anything before you sign. We will never pressure you to decide on the first call.
How much does a call cost?
Nothing. Calls and quotes are free, and there is never any obligation.
