Your coverage conversation checklist

Guaranteed issue with no medical exam for eligible applicants. First-time enrollment is up to 65% of gross monthly income, capped at $5,000. Eligibility, state availability, income limits and policy terms apply. Pre-existing conditions are covered after 12 months for eligible groups.

  1. Start with your existing protection

Review your employer benefits, sick leave and any disability coverage you already have. Ask how other coverage affects the benefit you may select.

  2. Choose an affordable monthly benefit

Review the quoted biweekly premium and the first-time income limit together. A displayed benefit amount does not establish eligibility.

  3. Plan for the waiting period

Ask when accident and sickness benefits can begin, how the 14/14-day periods are measured and what exceptions apply.

  4. Understand the benefit period

Review the 12-month base period and ask how any Building Benefit Rider changes the maximum period over time.

  5. Read the coverage conditions

Discuss the disability definition, exclusions, limitations and pre-existing-condition provisions in the policy.

  6. Prepare for a claim

Ask which documents are required, how to contact the insurance company's claims department and how the claim process works.
